Setting the Scene...more or less...

The awkward thing about blogging is that it's tricky to know where exactly to begin. And I guess it's kind of a hole I dug for myself, because there's so much to tell, but it's taken me this long to actually post something. But, in my defense, I didn't want to start too soon and bore everyone to tears before the actually adventure began. Still, a certain amount of preparation of the reader is required. Enter, Necessary Background Information.

So it goes like this; nine days from now, I will be on a plane bound for Great Britain. Or, more precisely, London. And soon after that, I will begin three weeks of being an enrolled student at King's College, taking a course titled "Jane Austen's England". Pinch me. To be honest, it hasn't really sunk in yet; it still feels like a state of un-reality. Even then, my enthusiasm and excitement level is still through the roof (My family can vouch for that, they're the ones who have been forced to listen to my endless babbling about England, London, authors from said city, books by said authors, etc. Bless their hearts.) .

But perhaps more important is how this all has come about. It began quite a while ago, back in October 2013, when I got it into my head that I was going to make this happen. Although, really, it began way before that, but that's another story altogether. First and foremost in this process have been those certain people who have really made it possible for me to go to London; my grandma, and my parents. After much thought on the subject, I threw out the idea, "You know, I would really like to study abroad in London." If they questioned my sanity in those moments, they never told me. Since then, I have gotten nothing but enthusiastic support from them, as well as the rest of my family and friends.  Also since then, I have been filling out and submitting mountains of paperwork, applications, and forms, tracking down people to sign those same forms, all to prepare for this experience. And, in little over a week, it's all about to happen. I'm going to London.
